Description

This mid-15th-century (1450–1475) gradual originates from Brescia, Italy, and was used by the secular canons of the congregation of S. Giorgio in Alga at their Brescian house, S. Pietro in Oliveto. The manuscript features square notation on 4-line red staves and contains a fragment of the mass for Sts. Peter and Paul (29 June). It consists of 1 parchment folio, measuring 540 x 382 mm, and follows the secular liturgical cursus. The manuscript is notable for its 3-line historiated initial depicting blue-vested canons kneeling before Sts. Peter and Paul. (Description based on information from Digital Scriptorium 1.0)
