- Description
Single leaf containing part of the Tract and Litany for Easter Vigil. 520 x 375 mm; writing area 410 x 265 mm.
Square notation in black ink on a red five-line staff. Faint lines of division. Downward custodes.
Labelled "cv" in roman numerals, and "105" in Arabic numerals (partially cut off due to trimming).Although a five-line staff is often taken to be suggestive of Spain, the textual hand seems firmly northern in its angularity. There is one long (one staff tall) red initial, opening the litany, and two elongated initials in black with double lines and sawtooth decorations opening the tract verses. Other litany verses have small lombards alternating red and blue.
Other distinctive features include the tendency to distance the final consonant from the vowel (vi-vu--m) and the setting of the names "Raphael", "Michael" with the accent on the final syllable.
There are several errors present: the ending of two tract verses is apparently miscopied in two different ways, "Christelyson" has an "e" missing, and one of the litany's lombards is the wrong letter.https://fragmentarium.ms/view/page/F-es6l
