- Indexing Notes
- A modally special chant. The Bb in the first part of the chant can be thought to express the sadness of the text while the second part of the response is in familiar eighth mode. In the word 'gaudio' the melody moves in the intervals of the fifth mode (F-A-C), continuing the interval movement towards the eight mode. The feast could only be inferred from the context since there are no rubrics of the feast left. The previous folio has been foliated as CCXXI while this feast begins from CCXXIIII. The Common for the saints is usually organized so that the Common for several saints follows the Common for one saint. Thus, it is unlikely that the three missing folia could have contained the Common for one saint.
