- Description
-
Two folia, trimmed and cut from their original bifolia but relatively well preserved. Along the inner margin of both leaves, a narrow vertical strip of the former bifolium survives, showing how the shoulder side was bent over portions of the text. The script is Textualis Libraria, likely datable to the early 13th century. Decoration is minimal: most initials appear as litterae notabiliores in black ink highlighted with a single line of red, with one larger, simple red initial on fol. 2v. Rubrication is occasional and abbreviated. The musical notation is adiastematic and of two distinct layers: in some passages, a more deliberate system of neumes, including compound signs, appears to have been pre-planned, while in other sections only puncta and virgae were possibly added subsequently above the text.
