The incipit is introduced without the conventional rubric "v", which would typically indicate that it is the verse of the preceding Gradual, "Diffusa est gratia." The incipit "Propter veritatem" is followed by the red rubric to indicate the location of the chant: "Quere in octava Domini ad officium Vultum tuum. The initial ‘V’ of Vultum is written in red; rather than simply marking the beginning of the chant, such red capitals might serve as instructions, pointing to the introit (with its large red initial) near which the corresponding Gradual or Offertory for St. Agnes is to be found.
